Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!
I believe wholeheartedly in the power of language. The words we use describe ourselves, the situations that we find ourselves in, can profoundly dictate the way we experience life. The flip side of that coin is that the words we are afraid to use can do the same. For example, in our faith life, we may believe in divine order, but maybe cringe when we hear the word cosmos, which can be defined as the world or universe regarded as an orderly, harmonious system.
Or in sports, for example, it’s common place as a coach/player/parent/fan/
Language, both verbal and non verbal, are important parts of our everyday lives. We give, take, or receive power from them, however. That’s why certain language is hurtful to some people, and it doesn’t prompt a response from others. It’s why we are can completely unknowingly uplift or tear down people. Language can turn people off and away from us, and it can draw and attract people to us.
What type of verbal and non-verbal communication are you using or avoiding today? What type of language are you allowing to negatively effect you? What words or phrases are you giving power to, and are they having a negative or positive effect?
Make it a GREAT day!
Stay blessed.
