The D3 Report: Salisbury Falls Early

The world of D3 lacrosse is still emerging for its long winter hibernation, but there is plenty of action going down right now, the least of which is the whole Salisbury Falls Early to Lynchburg thing. Yup, that happened! Lets’ dig in and take deep look at 2015 NCAA D3 Lacrosse!

Salisbury Falls Early

Ok, no waiting around here. Lynchburg topped Salisbury in a major upset and win for their program. I’m not saying this win is a total shocker, as Lynchburg is clearly legit, but this is still a huge win for the Hornets. Can’t take anything away from them here, and why would you want to?

A 12-7 win is convincing. Lynchburg took an impressive 4-1 lead after 1 quarter, and they pushed this lead to a 7-2 margin in the second quarter. Salisbury tightened the gap to 9-6 after three quarters, but the Hornets put the game away with another 3-1 quarter to win 12-7.

Aaron Murphy led Lynchburg with 5 huge goals and 2 assists. Austin Stewart scored four goals to add to the total for the Hornets. Chris Hawley made 13 saves to earn the win. SU had three players score two goals and Dan Feeney made 9 saves in net. Salisbury entered the game at #3, while Lynchburg came in at #8.

NESCAC Update

wesleyan_lacrosse_snow_sunsetThe NESCAC started practice on Sunday. Tufts scrimmaged Harvard on Monday. Trial by fire. I actually like the fact that the NESCAC limits practices so severely. It might be a disadvantage early, but the conference teams seem to be doing just fine. Always have, hopefully, they always will. Long live the NESCAC. Ok, my biased rant is over. On to more good stuff.

Mary Wash Vs H-SC Game Photos

On a “blustery afternoon in Farmville”, Mary Washington took down Hampden-Sydney College 14-13. Kim Black was there snapping photos and providing the above quote. Blustery. Love it.

Big Games On The Horizon

On Wednesday, there are a couple of games with solid potential: Etown Vs Dickinson, FDU Vs Stevens, Muhlenberg Vs Montclair State, and W&L Vs Wooster top my list.

Saturday will see Cabrini take on Haverford, while Denison battles W&L. That’s two solid games for the Generals in Ohio. F&M could provide a solid test for Lynchburg after the Hornets’ big SU win. Goucher takes on WAC in an evening game. That should be warm. RIT Vs Stevenson has to the game of the weekend, and it should be a lot of fun to watch those two go at it early on. Roanoke Vs OWU is another good one. Don’t forget about Springfield Vs Nazareth either!
