Inside Look: NY Lizards Breakdown Machine 19-13

Once again, no matter how hard the Ohio Machine fight back, they still can’t find a way to finish. The NY Lizards took down the Machine 19-13 on Long Island this past weekend. Although the 3 games they have won so far this year is more than both of the past two seasons, it has to be disappointing to keep dropping such thrilling matches late in the game.

The night was special at Hofstra Stadium as the Lizards sported pink accents on black matter Cascade R helmets in support of the Susan G. Komen breast cancer research.

NY Lizards Top Machine Highlights

The score doesn’t reflect the effort from the Machine, they had the game tied at 13 before letting the NY Lizards slip away in the end of the game. Although Peter Baum went off again, tallying a club high 5 goals, but so did JoJo Marasco who is really filling his role with the Lizards.

Kyle Harrison nabbed a hat trick and Marcus Holman scored twice, but the Machine were out worked by the Lizards in each and every quarter. Right when the Machine were able to rally together and tie the game at 13 each, the Lizards punched in a couple quick goals to keep Ohio at arms reach before Palasek scored goal number 16 right before Ned Crotty’s nail in the coffin to put the NY Lizards up by 4.

Kyle Hartzell was able to also sneak in a 2-pointer for himself in the final seconds of the game off an interception from a forced behind the back pass from goalie Brian Phipps.

The Lizards move to 5-4 and the Machine are now 3-6. The Lizards remain at home to square off against the Florida Launch at 7:30 eastern on the 3rd while Ohio hosts the Chesapeake Bayhawks at 4pm eastern on Friday for this week’s 4th of July weekend celebration.

Can the Machine all-stars turn the season around and finish strong, or will it be another disappointing year in Columbus? Only that locker room has the answers, but you have every reason to feel good about New York, on the other hand.
