Stopping Lacrosse Practice To Smell The Double Rainbow

Yesterday marked the last practice of the year for the team of 5th and 6th grade boys I help coach for Doc’s Lacrosse in NYC. We worked on some man up and man down, and then started scrimmaging when the brief downpours arrived. The rain only lasted about 5 minutes, and as it tapered off, we were treated to something special…

The brightest, fullest, DOUBLE RAINBOW I’ve ever seen in my life:

Usually we don’t stop practice for rain, and we don’t stop it for rainbows either. But as you can see in the video above, this one was special. We just happened to be in the right place, at the right time, and we were treated to a pretty amazing display by mother nature.

Sometimes it’s really worth it to take a step back and truly check out your surroundings… you never know what you’ll end up seeing! The Double Rainbow was even more amazing in person. The video above was caught with an iPhone. In person it was even more vibrant.
