A Healthy Mental Diet

An empty head is not really empty; it’s stuffed with rubbish. Hence the difficulty of forcing anything into an empty head. – Eric Hoffer

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen! Happy Friday and happy November!

I like the above quote because it’s a reminder to us to manage the thoughts that occupy our minds. I often mention the power of the mind, and how powerful a tool the mind is in allowing us to make the best or most of the situations we find ourselves in. As almost a hard rule, we act according to our thoughts. The thoughts that we allow ourselves to maintain from moment to moment, day to day, will generally determine the way we perceive the world; the way we perceive others; the way we perceive what is being done to us or for us. But maybe as important is the idea that same thoughts will also keep us from other thoughts, good and bad.

Our mental diet is as important to our well being and growth as is what we eat. If we only eat junk food, our body craves it, and the idea of healthy food becomes less and less appealing, and vice versa. Such is the case with the mind as well. We all have our “cheat” days. But it’s important that we train ourselves to maintain a healthy mental diet.

Make it a GREAT day, and a GREAT weekend!

Stay blessed.
