Back To School Trouble At Notre Dame

I still remember how exciting it was to get back on my college’s campus after a Summer of work, lacrosse and family. All your friends and teammates are back in one place, there are stories to share and new people to meet. While this is always fun, and it can lead to bad decision-making sometimes, and it seems like that is exactly what happened at Notre Dame last weekend.

12 players, many of them freshman, were cited for alcohol, and one or two players were hit with more serious charges. There were some big names in the group cited, and a full list can be found here.

So far, there is no word about suspensions or anyone being kicked off the team. We have word out to the ND program for comment.

Are the Irish in trouble already?

Is it any coincidence that Notre Dame lacrosse posted this video today on Facebook with the quote. “‎1st Freshman “Welcome to ND” workout today, maybe it will look like this…“?

I’d gander that it’s not a coincidence at all. Screw up when you get back to school? The fall will have a LOT more running in store for you.

The temptations to cut loose when you get back to school are strong. The team is back together, you’re back “home” and the weather is usually still pretty amazing, but if you’re a serious lacrosse players, you are there for at least two reasons that go above and beyond just having fun: academics and athletics.

If you do get in trouble, try to use it as a lesson. Everyone makes mistakes and it’s usually not the end of the world. If you want to avoid all that, follow my easier-said-than-done advice: Don’t let the fading excitement of fall get in the way of your true goals.

As of this time, no additional news is available out of South Bend.
