NLL Previews and Predictions: Week 12

There were only a few games last weekend and even fewer this weekend.  As we know in the NLL, a few games can mean a lot of change standing-wise.  Toronto downed Philadelphia last weekend on a score of 13-8.  The Rock have now increased their strangle-hold on first place in the East Division by 2.5 games.  The team in 2nd?…The Philadelphia Wings.

Edmonton continues its climb of the West Division by knocking off the Rochester Knighthawks with a score of 11-9.  Rochester is now last place in the East, 3.5 games back, with a record of 4-6.  Minnesota managed to topple the Washington Stealth, who are Western Division leaders.  Minnesota is still in lasted place in the West but managed to close the gap to 2.5 games.  The defense was the difference for Minnesota as Tyler Carlson managed to stop 48 shots, and only give up 5 goals.

Colorado got out of their slump to beat the Bandits on a score of 16-13.  Newly acquired Casey Powell seemed to do the trick as he finished with 6 points.  John Grant Junior looked to be back to his old ways as he finished with 8 points.  Colorado is still tied for last place in the West Division, but could Casey Powell be the missing link that the Mammoth need?  Buffalo has lost the last 3 of 4 games and have hit a slump at the worst time of the season.  Will they be able to turn it around this weekend?

  • Edmonton Rush @ Buffalo Bandits

Connor Wilson – Edmonton Rush “The Rush are good. It’s time for me to stop pretending like they aren‘t”.

Chris Rosenthall – Edmonton Rush “Edmonton’s trending up, Buffalo’s trending down. It wouldn’t surprise me to see the Bandits go 0-for-March“.

Ryan Connors – Edmonton Rush “After early season struggles, the Rush are starting to pile up wins.  Kyle Rubisch continues to play lights out on defense.  This team could be deadly in the post season“.

  • Colorado Mammoth @ Calgary Roughnecks

Connor Wilson – Colorado Mammoth “This is a tough one. Was last week’s Mammoth game a fluke? They put up some goals last week, but Buffalo spent a lot of time in the penalty box. Calgary’s given up 15 goals or more in each of their past 5 games, so I think the Mammoth make it three in a row“.

Chris Rosenthall – Calgary Roughnecks “Colorado looks dangerous, but I still like Calgary out West. This game will help me decide if I should stick with them, or make a late season change“.

Ryan Connors – Calgary Roughnecks “The Riggers need a big win and this game should be it.  It is going to be a high-scoring game but if the Roughnecks can play good defense they should win“.

  • Edmonton Rush @ Toronto Rock

Connor Wilson – Toronto Rock “Watch the Rush win this one too, and they I’ll really need to stop pretending. In all seriousness, Toronto is good, and the Rush could be a bit tired. I like a rested Toronto at home“.

Chris Rosenthall – Toronto Rock “Doesn’t seem fair to make the Rush play one game on Saturday night and another at 3:00 the following afternoon. Really doesn’t seem fair to make the second game against the Rock. Not enough gas in the tank for the Rush to win this one“.

Ryan Connors – Toronto Rock “Second best defense in the league….defense wins championships”.

Correct Picks Running Tally:

Connor Wilson (22-27)
Chris Rosenthall (19-30)
Ryan Connors (20-29)
