What’s good, y’all? This is Justin Skaggs, lead stick maker at Skaggs Wood Works and curator of WoodLacrosseSticks.com. This week, I wanna show you guys the stick that I made for the Eastern Mass Hawks. This is a Color Series box pro model with a popping blue gut wall.
Truth be told, I don’t do a lot of these Color Series projects because they do take a little bit of extra time. I also haven’t quite figured out a good way to put them on the website so they’re easily available. So, if anyone wants one, they’ll have to call me directly.
But, this customer was very adamant that he wanted this particular Color Series scheme for his team. I think the Eastern Mass Hawks have a really nice and clean logo, so it seemed like the right fit. It’s got these nice, sharp edges to it, and overall, it just works.
We had the fortunate ability to make the right color blue. I talked about this before. It’s almost impossible to get a very light, vibrant color blue on a gut wall because it starts as a shade of khaki, so you kind of have to work with what you start with. Unlike back in Stylin’ Strings days when I used to dye lacrosse heads with this nice, crisp white background, it’s totally not the case here. But, I was still so stoked to try.
Before I take any credit for it, Rich actually dyed this gut wall.
Shout-out to him, he crushed it on this one. I think Rich probably has the best set of eyes for the job, because he’s dyed more gut walls than most people have lacrosse heads.
But, until next time, guys, I hope you enjoyed this project. Until I check back in with you next week, stay safe, stay productive, and take care of each other.
