NCAA D2 Lacrosse Highlights: Dominican vs. Colorado Mesa

Dominican vs. Colorado Mesa

Dominican and Colorado Mesa compete in the NCAA D2 in the WILA. Both teams are right at the top of the league with 7-3 and 7-5 records, respectively. The Dominican University Penguins took on the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks (what’s up awesome mascots?) in a WILA conference game in Marin County, California on March 30th, and BHSVideoDad was there to capture the action.

As both teams continue to improve each season, their very young rivalry also grows. This year, Colorado Mesa jumped out of the gates first with a quick three goal lead, before Dominican could get back on track and tie the game up in the third quarter. After swapping goals early in the fourth, Dominican pulls away with a 13-9 victory over the Mavericks.

Not to be outdone by themselves, the teams would play each other again only a week later in Colorado in an even closer contest. Colorado Mesa would come out on top in the second game of the series, taking down the Penguins 5-4 at home.

The series is even for the season as both teams look to make a final run at the WILA crown and the NCAA Tournament in May.
