The Woozles Head To Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament!

The Woozles, everyone’s favorite team in black and pink, are headed to the Lake Tahoe Lacrosse Tournament this upcoming weekend and as a member of the Wooz fam, I couldn’t be happier!

We’ve got a great mix of guys coming to play, spread from NYC, California, Thailand and everywhere in between.  Our team ranges in age from almost 19 to just over 31.  I’m the just over 31 guy.  Getting old!  Our uniforms are outrageous, and everything from our socks, to our Darth Woozles shorts, to our uniforms (just wait til you see those!) and even our headwear, is out of this world.

Like… Pink, black and hippies, dude. Dig it, man.

We have guys from both MCLA schools and NCAA schools.  Our West Coasters predominantly come from Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Cali, while our East Coast players have a bit of a NESCAC flavor for the most part.  We’ve got about 25 guys headed out to Tahoe, lots of girlfriends (or a wife here and there!) are making the trip as well and our 3 team condos are sure to be the epicenter of a great time.  Plus, we’re right near the fields!

Last year was my first at the Tahoe Tourney and I hope to make it back every year at least until my legs give out completely, which I’m guessing will happen by the time I’m 35.  Maybe I’ll just go back to “coach” then… the tourney is that good!  Last year we made it to the Quarterfinals, which was the Woozles most successful appearance win-wise in the club’s 7 or 8 year history.  Hopefully 2011 treats us ever better!

The elevation is a little hard to get used to, but you’re only playing 2 games per day on Friday and Saturday, so it’s very manageable.  The two games per day schedule also allows for some outside of lacrosse enjoyment, and the Lake is simply breathtaking.  We usually hit up a more secluded beach that you have to walk about a mile down to from the road.  The walk is long and steep, but the nature you see on the way is well worth it.  You’ll never have to watch another Nature show on TV!

Yeah, beautiful.

The nightlife in Tahoe ranges from people kicking back at their houses or condors, to bars, restaurants, and even some clubs.  It’s a happening little spot in the Summer!  But don’t be this guy.  Just don’t be.

Below I’ve posted the groups so you can see who is playing this year.  Are you going to be out in Tahoe?  Drop us a line in the comments telling us who you’ll be playing for so we know to look for you!
