LAS + European Championships = Lacrosse!

European Championships, here we come!

LaxAllStars.com has been named the official media partner of the 2016 European Lacrosse Championships, and we are PUMPED to be heading to Hungary at the end of July for double digit days of top flight international lacrosse! This will be our third straight year of covering a HUGE international event, and we can not wait to get going.

Stories, photos, videos… it’s all coming in hot! And it’s all being powered by Uncommon Fit! A crew of three LAS staffers (me, Brian Witmer, and Cassie Brunelle!) are heading over, we will be joined by Bruce Pirie from UCFit, and the content being kicked back home is going to be stellar!

From July 28 – August 6th, a staggering 24 European national teams will battle it out on the fields of St. Steven University, just outside of Budapest. That’s right, TWENTY-FOUR teams are playing in the 2016 European Championships. UNREAL! This is the first international event that Hungary will host, and it is also the first time their national team will compete in a fully sanctioned international event. That’s a lot of amazing just right there, and yet there is so much more.

Traditional European powerhouse programs like England, Israel, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, and the Netherlands will all be in attendance and aiming for gold, but we will see some upsets, it’s almost guaranteed! The talent level has never been higher in Europe, and it has never been so well spread. This should make for some amazing games of lacrosse, and some incredible story lines.

Do we know what all of these European Championships story lines will be? No way! And that’s what makes this trip so darn exciting! Will a Scandinavian team win a medal?  Which new team will see surprising success? Will a traditional powerhouse fall? WHO KNOWS?!?! We just want to share it with you! We are venturing into a wide open European Championships, and while there are favorites (there always are), the potential for a truly bizarre and exciting finish is there as well. Basically, this is going to be an AWESOME 10 days of lacrosse in Hungary!

The organizing group from Hungary has done a superb job of lining this event up so far. Having worked a couple international events (2014 and 2015 FILs come to mind) recently, we know how important organization will be, so this is a good sign. Plus they signed LAS up, so they’re clearly doing something right!

Teams will start to roll in to Hungary starting as early as July 22nd. On July 28th the game kick off (England vs Germany on day 1 should be an instant classic), and on August 6th a champion will be crowned. Throughout the entire duration we will provide you with photos, videos, and stories from just outside of Budapest. It’s going to be the lacrosse trip of a lifetime, so join us every day for unique coverage you won’t get anywhere else!

If you live in Europe, you should come to the games! Tickets are still available and Budapest is one beautiful city!

If you’re in the US, you will be able to watch the games online via LaxSportsNetwork, so EVERYONE can watch this awesome event.

We will post a daily video or two to YouTube, post stories to the LAS homepage AND the dedicated EC16 Page, and social media our faces off. It’s so on!

It is quite simply amazing to see 24 countries in Europe with senior men’s national lacrosse teams. I can’t wait to see each and every one of them in person. We will share as much of this amazing event as we can, so buckle up for a European Lacrosse adventure, and watch FULL games on LaxSportsNetwork!

Not bad, not bad at all.
