Throwback Thursday: Remembering The USCLA

Before Major League Lacrosse, the USCLA was by far and away the top post-collegiate field lacrosse league in the world. Teams ranged from up and down the East Coast, and the number of legendary players to grace the USCLA is unrivaled. Excellent old video from E-Lacrosse.

Clubs like Team Toyota, MAB Paints, DeWalt, Mt. Washington LC, Greene Turtle, NYAC, and many others were de facto pro teams for years, as no pro league existed. They played serious lacrosse, and played it hard, for one reason: passion.

I was rummaging around in a legendary NYC lacrosse basement, and I came across this amazing throwback helmet. The stick is from the USCLA, and it’s nothing short of amazing. This used to be the most bad@$$ logo on the planet when it came to men’s club lacrosse. I miss the USCLA! It’s not gone, but it’s not what it used to be…
