FoGoLax Traveling, Teaching Face Offs All Summer

Now Schommy runs FoGoLax, and he travels around the country doing clinics, and passing on his knowledge base to kids, and the future FoGos of tomorrow. Last weekend, he was in St. Louis, and had a great turn out of players, and kids who wanted to learn the details of the battle at the X.

I met Matt Schomburg down in Perth, Australia in 2001 when I was playing down there for Wembley, and Schommy was playing for East Freo. He was as dominant a face off guy as I’d seen in person, and I went a stunning 0-4 against him (with a long or short stick) during my time Down Under.

Schommy sent along this quick update on Missouri, and FoGoLax’s plans for the rest of the Summer:

Local coach Pablo Sherman set up the camp at scenic Desemet high school where we put the hard working Missouri kids thru some exhausting face off drills.

I was very impressed with the willingness of the kids to change their ways and adapt to the Fogolax techniques and drills, and the results were showing up almost immediately. After a long day of travel with some odd airplane mechanical issues, Fogolax/Duke standout Brendan Fowler was able to join us on day two. Brendan made an immediate impact on camp with his outgoing personality and knowledge of the skills and practices it takes to make it to the top of his craft.

We were all very impressed with the work ethic of the athletes at camp and I am positive that the next time we are back in MO, the level of competition will have risen to an even higher level. These kids love lacrosse, and it shows.

Fogolax’s next stop is Denver, followed by Minnesota. Stay tuned for more west of the Mississippi camps and clinics at www.fogolax.net.

We’ll have more from some of the best camps going on in the country as the Summer rolls on. It’s a busy time… so what are you doing to stay competitive?

Stick Trick Saturday: Tricep Stall

This week's trick, like many in the past, is a Matt Gibson original. You are using your shaft to stall the ball on different parts of your body. This week you will be stalling the ball on your tricep. Be very careful with this one if you aren't careful you can hit yourself in the face like I did.
