Cajun’s Corner – Big News, Big Weekend

Nick Rocco, Attackman for Ocean Springs HS

Big Congratulations to Nick Rocco from the Ocean Springs High School lacrosse team. Ocean Springs is the only lacrosse team in Mississippi, which plays in the Louisiana league. Nick just got the following letter in the mail:

Dear Nick,

The coaching staff and I would like you to join the ranks of the USA West Lacrosse Team!  You have a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent your country in Manchester, England during the World Championships. Congratulations on being selected to the USA WEST All – Star team! Now it’s time to get down to some of the details about the trip. As you can imagine a trip of this nature is no small undertaking. There are many things that need to be taken into consideration when traveling with an All –Star team to a foreign country, especially considering that we are traveling to the World Games.

The USA West Lacrosse Team is a regional All Star teams comprised of the best high school lacrosse players in the deep south & western half of the country.  USA West was set up to provide lacrosse players from these areas with the playing experience of a lifetime. Since its inception, USA West teams have traveled to Japan, England, Australia, China, Germany, South Korea and the Czech Republic. The team has had tremendous success winning every college tournament that we have entered.

For the summer of 2010 we are putting together one of the best USA West team yet!  The trip will put the team to the ultimate test by playing in the World Championships. The team will be playing in the U-19 elite division of the festival. After the tournament the team will travel south to visit Bath, Stonehenge, and London.

The trip will start on July 14th when all players and coaches have to report to Los Angeles for training camp. The players and coaches will come together for 2 nights and 3 days of mini camp to prepare for their trip abroad. The team will then fly to Manchester for the tournament.

Once again congratulations on being selected!

USA West Lacrosse Director

Told you these guys in the south can ball.

Looming in the future is an interview with LSU, Texas, Ole Miss, and Bama. If you haven’t heard, Bama got some new gear for the 2010 season.

Sick Uni's, even nastier Maybachs

Mardi Gras this weekend! But even crazier, it’s snowing in south Louisiana. Most Louisiana natives are confused by this. All schools except LSU have shut down, and most businesses are closed. Here’s some pictures of our snowpocalypse (prepare to laugh at us)

Snow at my office.
Driving down the road in Zachary, La

Y’all, this is a huge deal for us. It snowed here in November of 2008, but before that, I think it snowed in the early 90s. It doesn’t snow here often. Anyways, I’ll be sure to take pictures of the High School gang laxing in the snow.. Till next time!

About the author: Knox is a 24 year old High School Head Coach in a small area east of Baton Rouge. He played High School ball for four years, and college ball for about 1 week until he realized his collegiate priorities rested with more important things like partying and eventually trying to get his grades up. He enjoys things that most Louisiana people do – eating boiled crawfish and alligator, a cold Abita Amber, anything LSU, his dog, and his beautiful girlfriend, Audrey. Lacrosse is not listed because most Louisiana people have no idea what lacrosse is.
