Rhino Lacrosse has teamed up with the organizers of the renowned Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Tournament, George and Kevin Leveille, to present the Oregon Lacrosse Classic, a three-day lacrosse festival in Bend, Oregon.

The Oregon Lacrosse Classic will run July 25-27, 2014, featuring boys youth (U-11, U-13, U-15) and high school (High School, HS Elite) bracket play.  Tournament Director and Rhino founder Ryan Powell aims to replicate the success of his last joint endeavor with Lake Placid Lacrosse, last summer’s Saratoga Springs Shootout held in New York.

In addition to the on-field competition, the Oregon Classic will feature player and coaching clinics, food trucks, and live music.  The idea to create a lacrosse festival, with lifestyle entertainment in addition to the lacrosse games, is something that Powell has long thought about.  “Many people see lacrosse as more than a sport, they see it as a lifestyle and something special that brings a community together.” Powell said.  “By including post-game activities in our offerings, we’re trying to give players and their families a total lacrosse experience” he added.

Named one of America’s best outdoors towns, Bend is located a little more than three hours Southeast of Portland and sits on the shores of the Deschutes River.  Bend’s reputation as a world class outdoor sports venue means that players and their families will have many options for off the field fun. With activities such as fly fishing, white water rafting, golfing, mountain biking, and hiking just minutes away, the tournament is sure to provide something for everyone.

There is a long and successful history of combining great lacrosse with a spectacular outdoor setting.  Such great events as the Lake Tahoe tournament, the Vail Shootout, and the Summit Tournament at Lake Placid have seen the Creator’s Game played against the backdrop of some of Mother Nature’s most beautiful scenery.  Bend’s natural beauty and the growth of the sport in the Northwest suggest this combination could be another Rhino recipe for success.
