Music Monday: This and That

Welcome back to another Music Monday!  I know it’s not everyone’s favorite day of the week but I’m hoping these songs can make your day just a little bit better.

Lorne and the Wayhighs – Dreamland

Making another appearance on Music Monday is Lorne and the Wayhighs.  In case you’re out of the loop, Lorne Smith is a modern lacrosse legend who also happens to be a blooming musical star!  The group is planning to get back in the studio this Fall to record some new material, and hoping to have some new show announcements coming soon too.

The band’s facebook page describes their sound  as.

A sound which was born in the Fells Point blues bars of his hometown Baltimore, and evolved in San Francisco while playing in Groovesmith, Front Porch, and most recently Guns for San Sebastian. A sound that was shaped on the stages of The Independent, Great American Music Hall, Bimbo’s, Slim’s, Cafe Du Nord, and the Boom Boom Room. It grew up on Ocean Beach, around a campfire, and by the river. Now it is released to the world as Lorne & The Wayhighs.

The Flavr Blue – Surrender

Fresh off their performance at Bumbershoot, the Seattle synth-pop trio The Flavr Blue is making moves.  I recently discovered the group through their female singer Hollis, who is also featured on our next song.  I’m definitely feeling their music and looking forward to their future releases.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Ft. ScHoolboy Q & Hollis – White Walls

Last but certainly not least, we have some fresh new visuals from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.  It’s hasn’t even been a year since releasing The Heist on October 9th of last year but the dynamic duo from Seattle have had an unbelievably successful time.  This particular song is about Macklemore‘s affinity for Cadillacs but this isn’t your everyday “rap video”.  The track features ScHoolboy Q who will be dropping his highly anticipated album OxyMoron very soon and the exceptionally talented Hollis as you just heard in the previous song.  There’s also plenty of familiar faces making cameos in the video.

Thanks for checking out another installment of Music Monday.  As always, feel free to submit your favorite tunes in the LAS Community and let us know what you’ve been listening too.  You just might see it featured here on Music Monday!
