NYC Ulax Fall Ball In Full Effect!

Ulax offers lacrosse to college and post-college aged players all over the country. Easily the best league, New York City hosts 8 teams in the fall and LacrosseAllStars.com is one of them! We’ve got a team full of great guys and while we’re probably not going to be challenging for the championship laurels (more likely t-shirts), we are going to go out, lax it up and have a good time.

We’ve got a couple of Wesleyan alums playing (although I was the only one that showed last Sunday), some other NESCAC guys, a bunch of players from the Brooklyn LC (American Lacrosse League) and then a number of free agents. We’re a bit undersized on D, don’t have a ton of depth at midfield and need a fogo or someone who can dominate at face offs, but that will come with time. Or not. The important thing is we’re out there playing!

We played the Gotham GOATS in our first game and lost.  The Goats are made up of a bunch of Williams College guys and a smattering of D1 talent.  We lost 12-6 (something like that anyway), but I dropped 2g and 1a playing mostly attack so I could have been sadder. As an on and off defenseman, a couple of points is always nice.

Since teams don’t always have a full roster and the point is to play as much as possible, I stayed on and played in the next game for the team wearing yellow and somehow managed to score a hat trick with a couple more close ones. Like off the goalies face mask or the pipe close. I probably wouldn’t start at Indiana under Peter Tumbas with that kind of finishing.

In the third and last game I didn’t score any goals but did manage to nearly break my hand and suffer a 3 inch gash on my shin.  We were playing against Teamitup.com and they bring the heat for old man lax. After that one, I called it quits for the day. Three games was enough and my old body wanted to watch football.

Hey SaltShakerz, why have I never seen these before!?!?!?

Next weekend I’ll be down in New Orleans for my brother’s wedding, but the weekend after I’ll be back in action and I’ll make sure to keep you all posted on how things are going down in NYC. Lax on.
