Game Photos: Bayhawks Top Cannons 16-15

The Chesapeake Bayhawks got back on the winning track with a big 16-15 win over the visiting Boston Cannons this past weekend, and Craig Chase was there snapping superb photos for our viewing pleasure. Not a bad deal! This is Boston’s 4th loss of the season (they now sit at 3-4), and each of these losses has come by single goal.

Both Ben Hunt and Brendan Mundorf just went off for the Bayhawks. Hunt had six goals and 2 helpers, and Mundorf notched five goals. Mundorf’s five were a season-high, and Hunt’s six Gs mark a career best for the big midfielder. Mundorf got the game winner, and each of Hunt’s goals was a long range bomb, and it just goes to show that a rangy shooter having a good day can still dominate in Major League Lacrosse.

Early on, both teams put up runs of goals. Chesapeake built a 7-4 lead, but then Boston scored 7 straight goals to take an 11-7 lead, with Stephen Berger accounting for four of the 7 goals. Later, Berger would get a 2 minute penalty for an illegal stick, and Chesapeake would get right back in it.

Even with these larger early runs, the game was really pretty tight throughout, and we saw 9 tied scores during the entire run of play, with three of those ties coming in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Buchanan had three goals and a helper for Boston, while Paul Rabil had a goal and 3 assists. Ryan Boyle had a goal and 2 assists, and Will Manny had 3 helpers, while Brent Adams had two goals, and one of those was a 2-pointer. Chesapeake obviously got big days from Mundorf and Hunt, but Joe Walters also dropped 4 assists, and Drew Westervelt notched 2 goals of his own. Kip Turner made 15 saves for the win while Jordan Burke made 11 saves for Boston in taking the loss.
