Loyola Wins 13-8 Over Georgetown

Georgetown scored the first goal of the game, to take an early lead over Loyola, but it would not last. The Grey Hounds scored three goals in the first to end the quarter with a 3-1 lead, and continued their goal scoring run in the second, as they pumped in four more goals, to take a 7-1 lead into the half.

Georgetown fought back in the second half, scoring with more ease, but it wasn’t enough to diminish Loyola’s lead in any real way, and the Hounds went on to win by 5 goals, 13-8.

Loyola was led by Justin Ward who scored a goal and added four helpers. Zach Herreweyers stepped in to an attack spot and notched four big goals for the Hounds. The third spot was occupied by Nikko Pontrello, who finished with two assists.

Josh Hawkins is back, and had a goal, as well as three caused turnovers and four GBs. Harry Kutner continued to show why he is such a valuable transfer, as the lefty notched two goal on only three shots.

Jack Runkel made 9 saves for the win, and helped hold Georgetown scoreless for around 32 minutes of play. Jake Haley made 8 saves, taking the loss for the Hoyas.

Reilly O’Connor had 2 goals and an assist in the game to lead the Hoyas. Jeff Fountain had two goals while Joe Bucci added two helpers. Georgetown (3-4) plays at Duke (6-4) in their next game while Loyola (6-2) plays at Michigan (0-8). Both games are on March 23rd.
