A Historic Weekend

We have the US Lacrosse National Convention, the conference championships in the NFL, and a little minor event happening down in Washington DC with the inauguration of Barack Obama.

The notoriously private Tiger Woods is even making an appearance in our nations capital.

Tiger Woods: future member of the Obama administration?

Tiger Woods will speak at the opening celebration for the inauguration of President Barack Obama on Sunday at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, according to tigerwoods.com.

“I am honored that I was invited to this historic event, and look forward to participating in Sunday’s festivities,” Woods said in a statement.

While Woods has been determinedly non-political throughout his career, he did praise Obama’s victory in November.

“I think it’s absolutely incredible,” Woods told CNBC after Obama won the election. “He represents America. He’s multiracial. I was hoping it would happen in my lifetime. My father was hoping it would happen in his lifetime, but he didn’t get to see it. I’m lucky enough to have seen a person of color in the White House.”
