Grow The Game Tour: Seattle Activities & Itineraries

Lacrosse All Stars Grow The Game Tour

Update: As the week progresses, I’ll do my very best to throw in a few notes and pictures to keep you all updated on how things are going. Hope we see you all in Seattle this week, enjoy!

For an hour by hour rundown of the Grow The Game Tour in Seattle, check out our list of activities and itineraries below, replete with info. If you’re looking for something a little more personal, don’t you dare miss Matt Gibson’s Diary Of The Dutchmen. It will blast your socks off.

Friday, October 12th

  • 8:00 AM MST – Depart for Pendleton/Hermiston, OR – Drive time: 4 hrs

To everyone’s chagrin, I set the ETD for a “hard 8:00 am”. Unfortunately for me that turned into a soft 8:30 am departure, fortunately everyone MapQuest’s calculations were off and it was a quick 2-3 hour tour across the border.

  • 12:00 PM PST – Arrive in Pendleton/Hermiston, OR
  • 1:00 – 3:00 PM PST- Pendleton/Hermiston GTG Clinic
    • West Park Elementary, 555 Southwest 7th Street, Hermiston, OR 97838

Initial impressions? AMAZING! Great work ethic, even better energy, and for something we just set-up in the last two weeks, we had 40+ kids show up and several more that were trying to make the trip. From the look of things, Hermiston, OR is off on the right foot and doing everything they can to Grow The Game and get their name on the lacrosse world map.

Being from a non-hotbed area myself, I have a special place in my heart for these kids and it was great to see them laughing, asking questions, and soaking up every bit of knowledge being dropped on them.

  • 4:00 PM PST – Depart for Tukwila, WA – Drive time: 4 hrs, 30 mins
  • 9:00 PM PST – Arrive in Tukwila, WA

Arrived at our lovely RV Park to the tune of some rain and a bunch of over-sized Halloween decorations. Doug Appleton, Blake and Cort Kim arrived to give Mike and Henry some much needed time away from the RV and allow Jeff and I to stretch out a little in the Dutchmen. We are currently catching-up on a few last minute details  before we catch some shut eye and get ready for a big day tomorrow at the Seatown Classic.

Saturday, October 13th

  • 9:00 AM – Arrive at Starfire Sports Complex for set-up at The Seatown Classic
    • 14800 Starfire Way, Tukwila,‎ Washington‎ 98188
  • 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM – Boy’s USL/Warrior Clinic
  • 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Boys Coaches Clinic
  • 12:00 – 2:00 PM – LaxAllStars.com Pregame/Tailgate

Made it into the beautiful city of Tukwila without any major hold-ups. We were welcomed with open arms by the facility and they even made an exception to allow us to park the noble Dutchmen in their complex (even though they had a “No RV’s” sign out front).

Before we could even set up the kids started coming up to the booth to check out all the LAS and Easton gear. A little before noon, Mike and the Easton gang started putting on a little show for a good amount of young laxers in the area. Big shout out to the Washington Lacrosse Chapter for hosting us and giving us prime real estate for the event. Hugely appreciated the opportunity given to us (Thanks Dave!).

Shortly after the opening whistle, we started to take down the booth so we could all get to work getting some quality coverage for the event. Our fearless leader, Jeff and David Ogle took on the task of photos, while yours truly did his best to get some video highlights of the match.

  • 2:00 – 4:00 PM – Maryland vs. Denver

All in all it was a quality match-up between two top contenders. Denver went away with the 12-9 victory but it was very cool to see 3,400+ show up to this event. From a few talks with some of the dedicated Game Growers who helped make this event possible, this has been something that has been in the works for FIVE years. That’s dedication, my friends!

  • 4:00 – 4:30 PM – Autographs

Both teams made their way over to the sideline to sign some autographs and mingle with the fans who made their way from many places to watch the game. It was really cool to see all the local support for several Pacific Northwesters who played on either of the teams. Love to see how much the game has grown.

The Seatown Classic

Sunday, October 14th or Monday, October 15th

  • TBA – Grow The Game Tour: Seattle Clinic

Unfortunately, as of now at least, we will probably not be able to put on a little clinic here. Instead we are taking the next couple of days to catch-up on some much needed work and make sure we give the Seatown Classic the coverage it deserves. That doesn’t mean we are done trying to Grow The Game in Seattle though. We are going to try and meet up with some Game Growers tonight from the area to see what we can do to further help their cause.

If you’re in the Seattle area and would like to meet up with us, please don’t hesitate to email us and see if we can meet up today or Monday. We’d love to hear what you have to say!

  • Video shoot & downtime to experience the Seattle lifestyle

With being on the tour now, we take every advantage of time with our computer that we can. Once we get a few things done around our temporary office (thanks David Ogle), we are going to head to beautiful downtown Seattle to do some solid filming and pictures. If you are in the area, make sure to look for us!
