The Lee-Jackson Classic: W&L vs. VMI – D1 vs. D3

The Lee-Jackson Classic used to be one of the few NCAA D1-D3 lacrosse games every year and it was a classic, even if it meant little to those outside the rivalry. In recent years the game has been moved to the fall, but it’s still a big deal as Washington & Lee and the Virginia Military Institute both take huge amounts of pride in the game.

The two schools are extremely different, as W&L is a small liberal arts college, and VMI is, well, a military institute. You could definitely hit one school with a lacrosse ball thrown from the other school. And that only makes the rivalry that much more intense!

Evidently, W&L went on to win this edition of the game, which was played on October 26th, 2012, after some back and forth action. It’s a Fall Ball “scrimmage”, but for the guys at W&L and VMI, this counts.
