Show Your Appreciation

I find it rather fitting that Veteran’s day should fall in the same month as Thanksgiving. On Veteran’s Day, it’s customary to remember, honor, and thank the men and women that have served our country and maintained our freedoms; many of whom have done so at the cost of their own lives. They have sacrificed on our behalf, and they do so each and every day. They don’t get to choose which day is convenient, or which day they can drop everything and help. We, on the other hand, get to say on this day that we will honor them. And I, appreciate that we do so. But sometimes, we get lost in the hoopla.

Today is more than just a day to honor the men and women that have made, and continue to make, sacrifices on behalf of our country. It’s really a reminder that we should do so all the time. It’s a reminder that there are men and women – older than us and younger than us – that voluntarily give up all conveniences in order to allow us to maintain our own.

Similarly, let’s not isolate our thanks giving, to one day. Make sure that you are giving thanks, daily, because we all have more than enough to be thankful for. If you have the luxury of staring at a computer screen on your desk, or walking around your job reading this on your iPhone, you’re doing way better than the majority of the world. Every day above ground is a GREAT day, and worth being thankful for. The time and sacrifices that others make for us each day are worth being thankful for. The ABILITY to make sacrifices on behalf of others.. It’s worth being thankful for.

So today, give thanks. Show some appreciation toward a man or woman that is serving our country. But more importantly, let this day be a reminder that, in some capacity, we should do so every day.

Make it a GREAT day, and a GREAT week!
