JuCo Report: VERY Few NJCAA Games But A New Poll!

We’ve seen VERY Few NJCAA Games. Sad face. While the NCAA lacrosse world is alive and kicking, NJCAA lacrosse is just now stirring from its winter slumber. Could that be due to so many NJCAA teams being located up North and having limited travel budgets for southern sojourns? Absolutely. All it means is that when the JuCo season does hit us, it hits us hard, just way the way we like it.

Josh Byrne Goes HAM for Hofstra

Hofstra knocked off UNC on Saturday, Feb 21, and Nassau CC transfer Josh Byrne played a big role in the 10-5 beating of the Tar Heels, notching four goals and adding two assists. Byrne was the 2015 Attackman of the Year in the NJCAA, and has now exploded onto the D1 scene for the Pride. Props to a former JuCo guy tearing it up in D1!

Got another former JuCo player who’s really making an impression at the next level? Email it to editor@laxallstars.com and we’ll feature a couple different guys each week.

VERY Few NJCAA Games…

We have only seen a few NJCAA results so far, and most of the Top 10 has not seen any real action, but that doesn’t me we don’t get a new poll, because we do. Here’s what’s new and not new from last week’s poll:

OCC is the unanimous #1, again. Essex and Nassau tied for #2. Anne Arundel hopped over Suffolk even though neither team played a game. FLCC beat Dean in OT and moved up, while Dean dropped to # 10.

NJCAA Poll – Feb 22nd, 2016

1) Onondaga (60)
2) Essex (51) 1-0 record
2) Nassau (51)
4) Genesee (42)
5) Anne Arundel (32)
6) Suffolk (29)
7) Howard (28)
8) FLCC (14) 1-0 record
9) Herkimer (11)
10) Dean (9) 0-1 record

Monroe (2), Delaware Tech (2), ASA (2), and Harford (2) all received votes.

2016 NJCAA Game Results

2/13 Cecil 5, Christopher Newport Club 15
2/20 Army Prep 21, ASA 16 – BONUS SCRIMMAGE SCORE, goal city.
2/21 Essex 16, Union County 2 – Expected result, but impressive.
2/21 Finger Lakes 14, Dean 13 (OT) – What a game to open up their seasons.

And that’s it! Six of the 30 NJCAA teams for 2016 have seen action. It gets a whole lot better!

Tompkins Cortland Community College Video

I LOVE it when JuCo teams produce videos, and this TC3 video is just great. Look for more video work from Tompkins Cortland Community College this year, and enjoy their preview video…

Yeah, that’s an awesome video. BIG thanks to Justin Coffman for sending it over to us.

A Little Inspiration!

As if you needed any more reasons to be pumped for 2016…

OK, that’s it for now. Expect more NJCAA Men’s Lacrosse love next week. You know the deal, the JuCo Report does too.
