Lacrosse GIFs: National Lacrosse League Week 4

Hey there, sports fans! It’s time once again for Lacrosse GIFs! We take five of the most monumental moments from the last week of lacrosse action and try to describe them in one GIF. Hilarity ensues. General merriment and lacrosse cheer breaks out. Things such as world peace and world hunger are solved. You get the idea.

This week we are featuring five moments from Week 4 of the National Lacrosse League. Top moments included Lyle Thompson’s amazing steal and score, the Saskatchewan Rush hoisting their 2018 NLL championship banner and Matt Vinc setting the all-time saves record for the league.

So, let’s dive in…

Lacrosse GIFs: NLL Week 4

No. 1: Matt Vinc Sets All-Time Saves Record for the League

In what was a legendary accomplishment for Matt Vinc, one of the greatest goaltenders the league has seen set the all-time saves mark against his former team the Rochester Knighthawks. Vinc had an incredible game, making 55 saves on the night and only allowing four goals, good for roughly a 93 percent save percentage. Had the game been played for an NLL championship it would’ve been a performance ranked right up there with Michael Jordan’s flu game or the Vince Young in the Texas – USC Rose Bowl that was played for a NCAA football national championship.

Plus, he was named Heavyweight Player of the Game for the Bandits:

No. 2: Lyle Thompson Scores on Sensational Steal

Lyle Thompson showed again why he’s one of the greats on Saturday night, as he intercepted a ball near the boards and took it the length of the floor to score on a diving twister, putting the Georgia Swarm up by two with just over a minute to go.

Boy, that was a mouthful.

But, it was brilliant nonetheless. First, take a look at the goal:

Here was the game-clinching shot from another angle:

No. 3: Saskatchewan Rush Raise 2018 Championship Banner

The Saskatchewan Rush raised their third championship banner (out of the last four NLL championships) Saturday night. It’s an impressive feat for the franchise, as they have built a dynasty these last few years. What happens in 2019 remains to be seen, but it’s always fun to revel in the moment of past successes. Here’s the banner going up:

And after winning three of the last four championships, the Rush should celebrate like this:

No. 4: Philadelphia Picks Up Kevin Crowley

In what was the first trade of the 2019 season, Kevin Crowley was sent to the Philadelphia Wings from the New England Black Wolves for a first-round pick in 2019 and in 2022. This piece could be what the Wings need to start picking up wins. (Side note: Read Ryan Conwell’s analysis of the trade here.)

The Wings are looking locked and loaded and this Crowley trade could be the difference maker. The Wings are now locked and loaded:

No. 5:  Adam Jones Nets Game-Winner in OT

Adam Jones not only netted the game winner in OT for the Rock, he had four other goals and an assist to go with it. Talk about having yourself a day. In fact, that may just be what Jones did:
