Leave It Behind You

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!

1 Corinthians 13:11, “When I was a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.”

By nature, we are constantly changing and evolving. And as we mature into adulthood, the world asks us to leave our childish ways behind. We are meant to grow, and change, and evolve. But change happens for different people, in different areas of their lives, at different times. Some people grow in one area and it’s a while before they grow in another. We all know people who think and reason like adults, and the end results of their equations still seem rather childish…. They still do/act/say/respond as would a child.

But childish is not the same as youthful. Youthfulness has less to do with being a child as much as it has to do with the excitement and freshness with which we approach things. It’s that youthfulness about life that keeps us going. It’s a youthful approach to our adult life that allows us to make the best out of less than ideal circumstances. It’s a youthful approach that allows us to smile during our day more often than we frown. It’s youthfulness that allows us to enjoy life when others are looking at us – often in the midst of their own hangups – wondering why we are so happy!

As we grow, it’s important that we leave our childish ways behind. But it’s just as important that we keep our youthful nature ahead of us.

Make it a GREAT day!

Stay blessed.

Life Is Interesting

It's important to be careful about the words we use to describe ourselves, and the phrases and descriptions we attach to ourselves. I'm guilty of it myself. Every time I fall asleep a little too early, or don't feel like being out past10:30 or 11, it's because "I'm old."

Notre Dame’s Play Like a Champion Today Education Program – Gameplan

I've been coaching at my alma mater, Bishop Kelly High School, for the past four seasons. I've learned plenty as a coach by I'm certainly no Bill Tierney. However, I was recently presented with a great opportunity to further my coaching knowledge. This past week I was fortunate enough to attend a Notre Dame Play Like a Champion Today Coach's education program. I saw it as a great opportunity that not many have to receive some great insight from a well respected institution. The four hour clinic was lead by Lynn Kachmarik who has an incredibly impressive resume.
