Music Monday: Kickin’ Up Dust

Editor’s Note: With summer well underway, we wanted to up your weekly dosage of music, so we decided to double our music offering to you. Each Monday, Michael Allen will take the morning detail, and Nate Fritts will continue to knock out the night hours. Everybody wins!

This week’s morning Music Monday spotlights the Kickin’ Up Dust tour which features The Grouch and Eligh or Tribal Seeds, Atmosphere, and Slightly Stoopid. I had the chance to catch them in Boise last week and had a great time. It’s hard to beat an outdoor summer show with great music and friends.  If you have the opportunity to see them in your town, be sure to do so.  Here’s a sampling of what you’ll hear:

The Grouch and Eligh – All These Lights

First off, we have a great track from The Grouch and Eligh who collabed with Pretty Lights for this catchy song.  You may recognize The Grouch from the independent hip-hop group Living Legends.  G & E had some great energy, worked the crowd well, and made for some great openers.

Atmosphere – Bob Seger

Here we have a new single from Atmosphere, which I was really looking forward to hearing at the show.  Atmosphere and the rest of the Rhymesayers crew have been among my favorites for quite some time.  I’m really feeling the beat by Ant, and Slug never disappoints on the verse.  Even at 40, Slug can still put on one heck of a show.

Slightly Stoopid – Don’t Stop

This was my second time seeing Slightly Stoopid and they were just as enjoyable as the first.  They’re a perfect fit for summertime with their smooth sound.  Check out “Don’t Stop” off their most recent album, Top of the World.
