Zombie UNC Jim Fenzel D1 Lacrosse Cartoon Night of the Living Tarheels

Night of the Living Tarheels – D1 Lacrosse Cartoon

There’s no explanation for what happened. The Tarheels came back from the dead and Fenzel is back to bless us with a visual.

There is absolutely no explanation for what happened this past weekend in the ACC tournament. Simply put, the Tarheels came back from the (almost) dead. Ryan Conwell put words to some of the madness, but Jim Fenzel is back to bless us with another visual.

At 6-7, the UNC Tarheels were barely just getting by and grateful to even be a part of the postseason. Their last two regular season games were dropped to ACC rivals Syracuse and Notre Dame. Also falling to Duke, North Carolina’s only conference win came to Virginia a few weeks back.

That’s why it was like a zombie had risen this weekend on the campus at Duke.

Out of nowhere the Tarheels found revenge over the Orange and the Irish in just one weekend. It started with a one-goal squeaker past Cuse before mauling the Irish in the Championship. There’s no better way to illustrate the impossibility of the scenario than a throwback reference to the zombie-style movie posters of the 60s and 70s. Personally, this is one of my favorite Fenzel’s of the season.

Who didn’t count the Tarheels out? After winning the who shebang last year, their only decent win of 2017 was over Denver in the early half of the season. Taking losses to Hofstra, Richmond, Hopkins, Cuse, Notre Dame, Duke, and Maryland pretty much told us they were as good as dead and buried. Now they’re blood thirty and looking at the big dance. Who’s going to stop this monster?

To see more of Jim Fenzel’s excellent work, run from the walking dead to his website. He’s got a coffee mug or two on there you’re going to want to pick up, because coffee is good, and so are his cups.

Jim will be back each week with more one-of-a-kind Weekly D1 (and other) Lacrosse Cartoons. Enjoy, and if you see Jim on Twitter, give him some thanks and of course the all important follow.
