Cajun’s Corner – What’s Next?

Last week I hit you with an overload of information. If you didn’t read it because you were too intimidated by it’s length and cornucopia of numbers, I understand. It spawned a pretty nice discussion between Wilson and me.

Despite our differences in opinion, I still have an insane respect for Wilson and his thoughts on the subject.

Just picked up a pair of these, even though they don’t have them in my size, which is short and overweight. LOVE the logo.

Sweet pic of Mike with a stick

Lacrosse season is over down here. Crawfish season is coming to a close. Louisiana’s weather is gearing up for hurricane season by raining every afternoon. I’m getting all antsy in my pantsy for next season.

Beautiful news in our neck of the woods: Louis Lacour from Jesuit New Orleans was named All American. Say what? Yeah, those kids in NOLA can ball. It’s amazing what dedication to a sport for five or so years can bring you. Congrats are in order for Mr. Lacour.

We’re hosting our first annual free clinic in Prairieville next weekend to coincide with the NCAA semi’s and NC game. I have no idea what kind of turn out to expect. I hope to God it’s more than 3. Pics to follow if I’m proud of the numbers.

We’re going to have a special guest who just moved to Baton Rouge join us. Sarah Bach, Maryland native and player for Stanford University, read my little blog here at LAS and shot me an email. She wants to give back to the sport and spread the love to the ladies. Can’t wait to see some southern belles with sticks.

No, it won't really be like this

Good news for the ladies – I reached out to a very, very powerful person on LSU’s campus, who came from two prestigious lacrosse schools before arriving here. I asked him what he thought about lacrosse in the SEC, and told him I’d leave his name out of it. His response:

“I am quite familiar with lacrosse and think it is a great sport…in the long term I do not think there is much hope for men’s lacrosse in the SEC, however, there is a chance albeit slim that women’s lacrosse could grow in the conference…keep up the good work, any sport a kid is playing is helping their development.”

Meh, that’s discouraging, but I still believe.

ProAthletics shipped our club’s new shorts today. The design is insanely cool. I’ll take some snaps when they come in.

If you didn’t watch it from a couple weeks ago, watch some Louisiana playoff action now

This guy from STM can straight up ball.

Louisiana sends some guys to the next level. CW Post and then some other places. And by other places, I mean Roanoke, Cabrini, Mars Hill, and Birmingham-Southern.

Finally, I’ll be in Chicago from June 7th to 17th, and I’ll be looking for some lax. Hit me up if you’re in the area.

About the author: Knox is a 24 year old High School Head Coach in a small area east of Baton Rouge. He played High School ball for four years, and college ball for about 1 week until he realized his collegiate priorities rested with more important things like partying and eventually trying to get his grades up.

He enjoys things that most Louisiana people do – eating boiled crawfish and alligator, a cold Abita Amber, anything LSU, his dog, and his beautiful girlfriend, Audrey. Lacrosse is not listed because most Louisiana people have no idea what lacrosse is.
