If We Have, We Can Give

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, and happy Thanksgiving!

An idea that has stuck with me for quite some time now, is to give when you can least afford to. I had the opportunity last night to follow through on this principle. And while, admittedly, my first instinct was to say “Not tonight, I cannot afford to do this,” the thought rang through my head over and over. Give when you can least afford to. A thought that I’d just recently tweeted out. A thought that I’ve probably been the beneficiary of on more than one occasion. And because I believe in the principle, I made the decision, in faith, to help out.

As we celebrate today, and throughout the holiday season, let’s be mindful of the fact that there are many people much worse off than we are. And it’s not our responsibility to help everyone that needs it, but it is, I believe, our responsibility to help when and where we can. Maybe it’s money. Maybe it’s time. Maybe it’s knowledge. Maybe it’s experiential wisdom. If we have, we can give. Giving is much less about what we are doing for another person, as much as it about recognizing that we are blessed enough to be in the position to do so.

Make it a GREAT day!

Stay blessed.
