Getting Tired of Facebook? Check Out QFive.com

We use Facebook as much as the next person, or company, but it’s not the end-all, be-all of social media. In fact, it’s far from it! As the ol’ bookface has changed, some people have gotten tired of it, or wanted a different experience, and now the market offers many other options, like Twitter, or Instagram.

Today, I want to introduce you to a new social media hub called QFive.com, and I think it has some serious potential! So much so that I made my own profile on it a while back, and Lacrosse All Stars has a page too!

You see, on Facebook, there is no core group of users… because the core group of users is, quite simply, everyone. Adidas, ESPN, your mom, your 4th grade teacher, Subway, and everyone else in the world is vying for your attention. It can all be a little overwhelming. And that’s where QFive steps in. The site is intended for athletes, fans, alumni, and coaches, and by focusing on sports QFive hopes to create a strong community of people learning about other people.

Early adapter users include John Calipari, Nike Lacrosse, more than 10 Olympians, Max Seibald, and big-time sports high schools, like Bergen Catholic in New Jersey.

We got to speak with Max Seibald about the new platform, and he had this to say:

I prefer QFive to other social media venues because it has a narrow focus on sports.  I can separate out my personal life for broad networks and share my lacrosse journey exclusively on QFive. Plus the iPhone app is sick!
QFive is perfect for lacrosse players because they can set up their own athletic profile to share their highlights and résumé, connect to their teammates and coaches on private pages, and follow the topics they care about (e.g. “lacrosse, nikelacrosse”) – and it’s all FREE.  The app makes it super easy to capture and share content which is my favorite part.

Make sure you check out Max on QFive and download the iPhone App. In order to give you a little more info on QFive, we’ve selected the following excerpts from a press release that was issued by the company today:

  • QFive, a free social platform for the athletic community, today released its platform and mobile application, which provides a network to connect athletes, fans, alumni and coaches to the sports they’re involved in and care about the most. The platform enables users to quickly create their own “athletic profile” – as an athlete, fan, coach or sports program. Using the QFive iPhone app, people can share their own unique media and capture behind-the-scenes sports moments.
  • “QFive is the new social platform for sports,” said Calipari. “Athletes, coaches and fans alike can come together and connect with each other in a deeper way than ever before. For the Big Blue Nation, this is a chance to bring us together as a family. Athletes can show their workouts, coaches can share their practices, and fans can capture and post some of their favorite moments with QFive. I know our players, our fans, our former players, coaches and alumni will all join in to take this thing to the next level.”
