LAS Weekend Update

Lax All Stars Weekend Update

Weekend Update #2… Did you catch last weekend’s update? If you did, then you know why we’re giving these updates and hopefully – hopefully – you’re down for the long haul. I can’t stress it enough: we’re not here for us, we’re here for you. And you. And yes, guy from Maltby, Washington sitting at your computer in your undergarments, even you.

Teaching A New Dog New Tricks

You know that old idiom, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.” Everyone has heard that at least 57 times in their life. Well, it’s my feeling that there’s a strong correlation between old dogs + tricks and old things + the internet. One of the most difficult things to do is teach an old entity (person, company, country) how to use the internet in a new, better way. And that’s just the way it is.

Take the dog in this video, for instance. This dog is GREAT at what it does, and I have no doubt the pooch started learning how to hop fences at a ripe young age. An older, wiser dog would be too apprehensive to do so.

Now, work with me here. In the perfect situation, when you’re trying to raise something to be great – be it a puppy, a person or a company – you’re going to want that something to be young and ready to learn. Right? Right.

I say this because that’s where LAS is today. We’re young and ready to learn. We want to learn what exactly lacrosse players and fans want on the internet. And we want to deliver it in the best possible form. That, in a nutshell, is what we’re working on this month behind the scenes. We’re shaping our road map and testing out opportunities to bring our readers more of what they love.

And need I say it, we’re really thankful that we’re young and eager. LAS has a long way to go and no one other than ourselves can rain on the parade. There is no boss looking over our shoulders. We don’t have outsiders we need to keep happy. All we have are the insiders, our readers. And hey, that’s kind of like all a puppy has is it’s master.

So, my point: As you see things change on LAS over the next few months; as you see new coverage, new features pop up or even a few items go up for sale, speak your mind and tell us what to do (and what not to do). It’s the only way you’ll ever have LAS jumping from roof to roof, barking the lacrosse gospel at every web browser on the internet.

Quarterlife Congratulations!

Speaking of insiders, LAS happens to have the best contributors in the lacrosse world. Today one of them, Knox Hutchinson, turns 25 and it’s a day to celebrated by all!

To Knox and the whole Louisiana lacrosse community: Keep up the great work!

And to the one and only Knox: Happy Birthday!

.

Just For Fun…

I don’t know about YOU, but I absolutely LOVE predicting winners of sporting events. Wager or no wager, it’s still fun – though it’s much more fun when something of value is on the line.

With the College Football season starting to get heated I figured I’d point you all to this great NCAA Football Pick’Em game from our friends over at FanFeedr.com. Fair warning though – it’s addicting!

I won the NCAA Coach badge last weekend… see if you can beat that.

Last, But Certainly Not Least

If you want us to cover something special next week, let us know. We’ll do it in a heartbeat, because that is what we’re here for. Just drop a line in the comments section below or send us a tip!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go train my 6 month old dog how to clear rooftops.

For LAS Weekend Update I’m Jeff Brunelle! Good night!
