The no. 1 Penn State Nittany Lions are headed to College Park to play the no. 8 Maryland Terrapins. Maryland is favored by one and a half goals, not too surprising given that they’re home. Over/under here is 24, which is…quite a bit!
We can’t wait to watch this battle at the X between Gerard Arceri and Austin Henningsen. Two studs that have been trained by two of the best in the business in Matt Schomburg and Greg Gurenlian. These guys are gonna go at it.. it’s gonna be a war.
While Arceri might end up winning the battle statistically, it’s gonna be really, really close. So I think that will be a wash in the game. Colby Kneese is playing really, really well for Penn State coming off of In Your Face, Player of the Week.
AT thinks Maryland has too many weapons on the offensive end and in the midfield for Penn State to be able to handle it. Penn State is winning 70% of the face offs lately. the fact that they’re playing in Maryland, Penn State comes in with the pressure undefeated, Maryland has a bad loss in Villanova and they’ve beaten a couple of ranked opponents in Michigan and North Carolina… it just sets up poorly for Penn State after beating Ohio State! So he has Maryland winning with the over in a very high scoring game.
RS is also taking Maryland in this one. He says we still don’t know what team Penn State really is at this point and that Maryland is hitting a lot of cylinders right now. True…true. He’s got the Terps winning, but he’s taking the under on this one.
Because of how Maryland likes to play and match the tempo of the other team, neither of us think Penn State is going to win nearly as many face-offs as the Nittany Lions are used to – Henningsen can at least diffuse Arceri, which could bring the score down in this one.
