PLL Announces Partnership With Legend Jim Brown

The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced today a partnership with National Football League and US Lacrosse Hall of Famer, Jim Brown.

To honor Mr. Brown’s ever-lasting influence on lacrosse, the PLL will name its Most Valuable Player award after the former Syracuse star. The inaugural award will be distributed to the league’s Most Valuable Player during PLL Championship Weekend at Talen Energy Stadium in Philadelphia on September 21.

“I’m very proud to be a part of the PLL and its commitment and dedication to the game of lacrosse,” says Brown. “I will be very active in support of this great effort. My congratulations to all of those who have worked very hard to make this recognition of lacrosse a reality. I also have a great appreciation that the MVP award will be in my name. The sport of lacrosse has a rich history, dating back hundreds of years to the Iroquois Nation, and I’m humbled to continue to grow the game.”

The partnership will also see Mr. Brown formally join PLL as an Advisor to the league and advocate of the PLL Assists program, which is the league’s charitable arm that supports local philanthropic initiatives catered to increasing lacrosse accessibility, supporting veterans, and aiding cancer research. Throughout the season, Mr. Brown will attend PLL weekends, helping amplify the League’s exposure, which will increase awareness through his world-class reputation in sports performance and humanitarianism.

“Jim Brown is the greatest and most influential figure in the history of lacrosse, and it’s an honor and privilege for our organization to name the MVP award after him,” says PLL Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer, Paul Rabil. “Among countless career accolades, Mr. Brown’s 2014 Muhammed Ali Humanitarian Lifetime Achievement Award demonstrates his impact beyond sports, and as an organization, we will look to Mr. Brown as a guiding voice for our brand ethos and strategy as we embark on our inaugural season.”
