To the PLL Community,
We continue to mourn the loss of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, as well as many others who have died due to senseless acts of racism and prejudice. Over the last week, the PLL has listened to and communicated with our players, coaches, and employees to identify and implement change through action.
Effective immediately, the PLL has incorporated the following steps to promote anti-racism and equality within our organization:
Company Training
The PLL is implementing mandatory anti-racism training and continuing education for all staff, new hires and PLL players.
Hiring Process
The PLL will mandate that all business unit leaders interview diverse candidates for any open position before any hire. The League will also be launching an internship program to provide opportunities for Black students to thrive in the sports/media industry.
Nonprofit Support
In addition to our PLL Assists partners, our Diversity and Inclusion team is Identifying and providing financial support to programs who tackle the issue of systemic racism in our country. Specifically, Black Lives Matter and Color of Change among others.
Voting
The PLL will be giving employees the day off on Election Day, November 3rd, 2020.
Juneteenth
The PLL will be instituting a company holiday for June 19th in perpetuity, commemorating the day that marked the end of slavery in the United State
Players
The PLL stands by its players, coaches, and staff should they decide to kneel or otherwise exercise their right to peacefully protest during the National Anthem at League games.
