Welcome back to the wood shop, everybody. As things really start to come together around here, I’m gonna take a flashback to, like, maybe a week or two ago, when the COVID-19 restrictions started to lift here in Philly, and we were allowed to have people back in the wood shop.
I really, really wanted to get Rich his own workspace.
He’s been working here a few years now, and he’s been apprenticing directly under me for a while now. He only has one thing left to do to become an official stick maker and that’s to actually go from sourcing the tree in the woods, all the way through the process. He’s done every step along the way, but he just needs to make a stick for himself.
A to Z.
Start to finish.
And then he’s done.
I think his new journey really requires some space of his own. So, it was only proper to give him his own workshop, and his own set of tools.
I really love this work bench, by the way. This was from Harbor Freight, and it was only $150 so, if anyone out there is looking to be, like, an aspiring wood worker, this is more of a work bench than you need. It’s actually nicer than my work bench back there… the one I built by hand.
I really hope that this inspires Rich to finish his apprenticeship and just gives him a nice sense of safety and comfort in the shop.
To anyone out there who owns a small business, this is how we dealt with the COVID-19 CDC regulations.
If anyone has any questions, or needs any help with all of that, I doubt I’m gonna be an expert, but I can point you in the right direction. Until next time, take care. Keep laxin’.
