Show LAS Your Old School: Herkimer Bucket Head

Old School Lacrosse

We asked and you keep sending them in. Old School lacrosse photos are a Lax All Stars staple every Thursday.

This week’s Old School picture comes courtesy of our friend Mike Brand and was taken back in the stone ages of 1996.

412 proclaimed that 2011 is The Year of the Decal, but this is proof that decked out lids have been around for a long time.

My only question is what is going on with the lower half of the facemask? Gives off a Hannibal Lecter vibe if you ask me.

“I’m going to split dodge you to death and eat your goal with some fava beans and a nice chianti.”

Go clean out the attic and relive your glory days. Submit your Old School photos and stories to [email protected]!

  1. Double chin pads. If ever there was a gimmick that made no sense. I tried it for 1 game and could not see ground balls within 5 feet of me because that chin pad took up 50% of my view. Not to mention in those buckets you had no peripheral vision.

How the hell did we not have more concussions? Remember when it would get cold and the foam on the inside would be harder than the plastic on the outside?

  2. I tried this once, in practice, back in the day. Lasted about 10 minutes.
I still have that old black Bacharach Rasin, I should send in some pics.
(goddammit the “foam” on the inside was (still is) so hard it gave me headaches)
