Sofia Lacrosse Cup Sees Chichko Lax Win In Bulgaria

The fifth edition of the Sofia Lacrosse Cup was held from July 12 – July 14, 2019 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Five teams participated in the event – Bulgarian Khans (Bulgaria), City of Stoke (England), Chichko Lax (mixed team from UK, USA, Germany, Croatia and Australia), Belgrade Zombies (Serbia) and Istanbul Sultans (Turkey).

The tournament had three phases: the group phase; the semifinals (the No. 1 team against the No. 3 team in the group and the No. 2 team against the No. 4 team in the group) and the finals (losers in the semifinals play for third and fourth place while the winners play for first place).

Final Rankings:

The team of Chichko Lax was amazing, but three contestants made an impression: Matt DeMeo (#26, SUNY Maritime College, NCAA DIII), Bryan Keegan (#10, SUNY Maritime College, NCAA DIII) and Jason Intermesoli (#3, Marist College, NCAA DI). After the cup they did a 20-minute clinic with the players from Bulgarian Khans and Istanbul Sultans.

The tournament passed without unnecessary strain, accidents or injuries!
