Throwback Thursday: USA – Canada 1990 Video

The lacrosse world championships traveled down under to Perth, Australia in 1990 but playing in the Southern Hemisphere didn’t do much to change the pecking order for national teams. Canada and the US obviously matched up for a great game and the video picks up the play with the US up 5-2 early in the second quarter.

UCLA Men’s Lacrosse is pleased to welcome two new assistant coaches to Westwood for the 2013-2014 academic year: George Buckley (Duke ’05) and Matt Gibson (Yale ’12). Buckley, a four-time letter winner at Duke, will coach the UCLA defense. Gibson, a two-time First Team All-American at Yale and the 2012 Rookie of the Year in Major League Lacrosse, will coach the Bruins’ offense.

Grantland recently ran a feature video on Kevin Kelley and Pulaski Academy football team because of their “no punt” approach to the game. The team only does onside kick attempts, and always goes for it on fourth down. It’s not a tactic bred out of desperation or insanity either, instead it is born from mathematics, and a willingness to look at the game in a brand new way. Could this approach be useful in lacrosse?
