Crosse Clicks: Quick Sand, Optik Fireworks, and Banana Splits
Providing a weekly rundown of the most interesting things that recently happened in the whole wide world of lacrosse, Crosse Clicks is to the lacrosse enthusiast as SparkNotes is to the above-average student!
Tweet of the Week: Snapchats with Junior
John Grant Junior recently hit a huge NLL milestone: 600 career goals. Junior is only the third player to hit this mark, joining John Tavares and Gary Gait in the 600 club. A lot of well-deserved congratulations went out to the Mammoth star, but none funnier than this from face-off man Jerry Ragonese:
Photo of the Week: Junior’s No. 3 SportsCenter Top Play
If you haven’t seen this shot by now, you’ve been really out of the loop the past few days. John Grant Jr. scored a goal for the Colorado Mammoth that many are calling the best goal of all time. He actually scored on this same shot two seasons ago as well, but the consensus is that Junior outdid himself with this year’s version.
Tweet of the Week: Thanksgiving for Junior?
John Grant, Jr., is one of the best Canadian lacrosse players of all time, not to mention one of the best lacrosse players of all time period. But did you know he recently gained American citizenship? What does this mean for his Thanksgiving plans? Canadian Thanksgiving is in October, which means it already happened. Does that mean he gets double the turkey and pumpkin pie?
Tweet of the Week: Junior’s “Wall” Ball
At the beginning of October, we showed you Brian Langtry’s makeshift wall ball wall. This week, we show you how John Grant Jr. plays “wall” ball.
Monday Night Memories: Anthony Kelly Loses His Helmet
Welcome back to Monday Night Memories! Randy Fraser Remembered the Rough Stuff, and Brian Cost Got Rocked in our first two stellar editions of this series. This time around we’ve got a story from Anthony Kelly. John Grant Junior stole his helmet! It’s 2007, the US is playing Canada in the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, and Anthony Kelly is about to learn a valuable lesson.
John Grant Jr: Vehicle & OHL Goalie Trick Shots
John Grant Jr is a man of many trick shots on the box lacrosse floor. He makes it pretty, and he makes the opposition pay in a number of ways. And not that surprisingly, his trick shot game in flip flops is also rock solid. It’s the Summer, Junior is having some fun and repping Gait and Toyota in his latest trick shot video.
Tweet of the Week: MLL Championship Edition
Since it was just MLL Championship Weekend, and my favorite team, the Chesapeake Bayhawks, were crowned champs for the second consecutive season and fifth overall (some would call that a dynasty), I’m allowing two tweets for this week’s Tweet of the Week. And what do they teach us? No one passes like the Hawks, and heroes are remembered, but old man legends never die.
Walters, Queener, And Junior: 2008 MLL Showtime
John Grant Junior, Joe Walters, Brett Queener, and the rest of the 2008 Rochester Rattlers put on an absolute show to win Major League Lacrosse’s title over the Denver Outlaws, 16-6 in Boston. When Casey Powell is barely even in the highlights, you know the action is legit.
Tweet of the Week: Top (Lax) Chef
When Casey Powell tweets about Paul Rabil tweeting about John Grant, Jr. … there’s just too much talent in one tweet thread to be ignored. It turns out Junior made an awesome menu item, the Legendary Mammoth Burger, named of course for his NLL team, at the Hard Rock Cafe in Denver.
Mann Cup: Mid-Season Review and Rankings
Just around the half-way point of the season both the MSL and WLA are a getting serious. The MSL top three teams are all neck and neck. The WLA is keeping everyone on their toes as the teams that started off hot have cooled, and those teams that started slow are starting to find their groove.
