Week 12: Dog Day of Summer
Lance Antoine took in the Ohio Machine vs Charlotte Hounds MLL game last weekend in Ohio. He provides a game report, and a look at the Hounds’ playoff potential this year. TWO GAMES LEFT!
Top Dogs: Charlotte Hounds in the All Star Game
This year’s MLL All Star Game consisted of two teams: Team Supernova and Team Eclipse. Team Supernova won with a score of 24 to Eclipse’s 15. It was lopsided in the first two quarters with not much more than a glimmer of hope in sight for Eclipse.
Mike Birney Shoots 113 Miles Per Hour
The World’s fastest lacrosse shot might not be held by Paul Rabil/ Kyle Hartzell anymore, don’t believe me? Watch it for yourself and check out the full story here!
Charlotte Hounds Week 10: Just a Tail Off
Saturday night’s game between Boston and Charlotte was a heart breaker for underdogs everywhere. Before the game the ESPN announcers put it best “the winner of this game in a playoff contender, the loser is a pretender”. I hate to agree with that, but sadly for Hounds fans, that’s the way it looks for the Hounds right now.
Charlotte Hounds Week 9: In the Pound
Last Saturday, the Hounds traveled to Denver to play the undefeated Outlaws. The Hounds lost by a total of six goals, with the final score being 17-11. This once again drops the Hounds below that golden .500 win percentage level and makes a late season playoff push even more important.
Charlotte Hounds Week 8: The Good, Better, and Best
Saturday was a do or die game against the Bayhawks for the Charlotte Hounds. The season is now more than half way over, and the chase for the postseason is getting tighter and tighter every week. Charlotte kept their dreams alive when they beat Chesapeake this week in an overtime thriller.
Charlotte Hounds Week 7: Bark With No Bite
This week Charlotte took on the Boston Cannons and the Hounds just couldn’t get the job done in a huge game for Major League Lacrosse playoff implications!
Summer Opportunities In N.W. Ohio
Columbus and Cleveland definitely host their share of dominant teams such as Dublin-Jerome, Upper Arlington, Rocky River, and University School. Don’t get me wrong though, Northwest Ohio has some top level teams too, like Sylvania Southview or Toledo St. Francis, but they have something better than elite teams, and that is expansion!
Year of the Underdog
As we look back on the 2013 men’s college lacrosse season, one can see why this year was different from the rest. It was the year of the Underdog, and Lance Antoine loves it!
