CityLax Gala Video: Famous People!

We took part in the annual CityLax Gala last night at the Yale Club of New York City, and all the big names and faces of New York City lacrosse made their way to the event. Check out the great video below from CityLax that showcases the Gala event and runs down a small portion of who was there.

One Slippery Game of Box Lacrosse

ULax’s NYC box lacrosse league is going strong throughout the Winter, and we played this past weekend even though the sport court floor we use was just a little wet and slippery. Lots of guys fell over (as in everyone fell at least once), we got the games in, and had some fun. Now you get to see us slip and fall all over the place, because why not?

Pita Shooting In The Maverik Office

I went over to Maverik’s office in NYC and met up with Kyle Sweeney to drop off a newly strung Pita pocket. Kyle decided to test it out a bit in the bullpen, and he was nailing pipes and corners from the get go. He’s a pro. No shocker there.

NYC Box Lacrosse – Week 1

LaxAllStars.com got back on track with a win during week one of ULax’s outdoor Winter box lacrosse league in Manhattan. The website’s squad took down Team America (although with a name like that, winning made us feel awful) with relative ease, but it was really encouraging to see so many new faces to box lacrosse from the fine fellows in blue. I’d expect this team to improve greatly as the Winter season rolls along.

FULL Philly Vs NYC Box Lacrosse Highlights

A little less than two weeks ago, we teased you with some quick highlights from a NYC vs. Philadelphia box lacrosse game. This week, we’ve got the full video from Throne of String, and it’s a good one! Plenty of action, and some pretty sweet goals, saves, draws, and even some big hits.

Video: NYC Vs Philly Box Lacrosse

Even though a good deal of the local NYC box lacrosse talent was in Hawaii last weekend, LaxAllStars still put together a solid squad of guys to make the early morning trek down to Philadelphia, to take on a local club, the Athletics, in a good old-fashioned game of box lacrosse.

ULAX NYC Week 5 Highlights

Roll Gate took on the Brooklyn Dodgers in the noon NYC ULAX game thus past Sunday and we got some pretty goals, and a couple of beauty saves. The goalies were “on” in all three games this weekend and were the definite stars of Sunday. A couple of Lafayette alumni also had big offensive days, and these guys notched a couple of sweet men’s league fall ball goals.

ULAX NYC Week One Video

NYC ULAX fall ball is back! The league features great diversity in terms of talent and experience, and it’s not uncommon to see a Wisconsin helmet or local HS player matched up against a D1 alum or current MLL player. The games are fun, and can get a little intense, but everyone keeps a certain moniker in mind during the action: “we all have to work on Monday”.

Traditional Thursday: Billy’s Recent Work

Some of these pockets have been used in multiple heads already, and some have even been played with in the rain. These leathers take a beating from scooping groundballs on the NYC concrete sidewalks. I’ve been trying a little bit of everything, from removable top strings to sidewalls and water-proof leathers.

Empire Cup Champs: NYC Interview

New York City has now claimed their second straight Empire Cup title, and after years of being the doormat of the Empire Games (the EC’s predecessor), the City’s region team rise is definitely something worth noting. I got to catch up with NYC’s coach, Ben Kaminow (a Syracuse club player in the 80s), to discuss the team, and how the New York City lacrosse landscape is rapidly changing, and improving.
