Throwback Thursday: Gait Brothers – 1994 MILL Finals

The Buffalo Bandits won the MILL title in 1992 and 1993. In 1994 they made it back to the Finals where they took on the Philadelpia Wings. The Wings had both Paul and Gary Gait on their team, as well as some other real legends, and they wanted to knock off the Bandits badly.

Tweet of the Week: John Tavares, Ageless Wonder

Tweet of the Week

In my opinion, there are two indisputable legends of the indoor game currently playing in the NLL. The first is John Grant Jr. The second scored an OT winner for the Buffalo Bandits last weekend while playing against the Philadelphia Wings. His name is John Tavares.

Throwback Thursday: 1993 MILL Championship Game

With the NLL kicking off last weekend it’s only appropriate that we show off some old pro box lacrosse footage for Throwback Thursday. It’s 21 years later, and pro box lacrosse is still going strong. Philadelphia, where Philly Wings’ player Kevin Crowley is being featured on commemorative cups…during NBA games.

1974 NLL Video: Griffins Vs Wings

We’ve got even more GREAT video from GetBenched! Check them out on YouTube and subscribe for more great old school box lacrosse video content! GetBenched has delivered some superb video in the past, and I love the old MILL promo videos, as well as this 1975 game, also featuring the Philadelphia Wings.

1975 Philadelphia Wings Video

The year was 1975. The NLL had just started up and the Philadelphia Wings were the most popular team in this brand new professional sports league. Greats like Jim Wasson, John Grant Senior, and the Lloyd brothers played in the league, the helmets didn’t have face masks and the sticks were all made out of wood. The shorts were also truly short.

Short Stick Makes NLL Save Of The Year

Brett Manney comes out of nowhere for the Philadelphia Wings to snag a ball off the goal line, making what just might be the save of the year. Not bad for a shot stick defender!
