I am fortunate enough to have a vote in the IL Media Poll, so it’s only fair that I share my votes with you each week. It’s all about transparency!
The season starts up on Feb 21st for a number of NJCAA Men’s Lacrosse teams… the season is nigh! It’s NJCAA Polls time!
Welcome to my personal Top 20, where I share my Inside Lacrosse Media Poll votes with the public! Why keep them private? That’s crazy. The people deserve to know!
Welcome to the first installment of the JuCo Report for the spring season. I’m starting it off right with a Top 10 NJCAA Poll, in all of its preseason glory!
There is no media poll this week, so Connor is dropping his imaginary Top 20 on a down week to give you something to talk about! Duke and Loyola are down, Virginia and Marquette are up!
A preseason lacrosse poll is a tricky monster. Are you ranking teams on how good you think they are right now? Is it just a list of last year’s Top 20?
While I can admit polls aren’t going anywhere, I can also acknowledge that they are massively flawed, and really only good for one thing: sports commentators blowing hot air about how to rank teams based on games that have yet to be played! I believe polls need to be more results-oriented, and less about what people think.
Over the last few weeks Connor has been asking if the D1 lacrosse poll was serious, evaluating where teams are ranked from #1 to #20 and seeing if the voters got it right. But an interesting thought posed by one of our Twitter followers has us thinking: Is 20 the right number to rank?
Ranking D1 lacrosse teams is tough. Last week we had an easy criticism to make and could say Cornell should be #1, by virtue of them being undefeated. Then they lost to Harvard. Now it’s fair to give that coveted (but somewhat meaningless) #1 spot to Loyola free and clear. After that, the rankings get a little more confusing… let’s see if they’re serious or not!
Now that almost every D1 college lacrosse team has played at least seven or eight games we can start to question the polls once again. Forget about what’s on paper… how are these teams TRULY fairing, and where should they be ranked? It’s time to break down the USILA Top 20 Poll!
The USILA and Nike/IL Polls for NCAA D1 Men’s Lacrosse were released yesterday. Quint Kessenich has dropped his Top 20. Did you think just because I was in Prague for box lacrosse that I wouldn’t offer up my own analysis? Come on now. I still like field lacrosse.
Forum Friday discusses the craziness that are the polls.
