Game of the Week

New Westminster @ Coquitlam
Wednesday July 2nd

After losing 12-10 to the ‘Bellies on June 18th, the Adanacs will be seeking revenge and looking to avoid being swept in the season series between the first and second place teams in the BCJALL. A win for New West will clinch them the regular season title and will mark the first time since 2008 Coquitlam will not finish with first place honors.

This game will be sure to provide the winners with a huge amount of momentum heading into the post season and a psychological edge over their opponent as these two clubs will likely meet again in the BCJALL final.

Expect this meeting between the teams to be different than both games played previously this year. Coquitlam is rumored to be in negotiations with Nanaimo to pick up their starting goalie Peter Dubenski at the trade deadline in addition to their top scorer Brett Hawrys. These additions to their roster after already adding Delta’s Eli McLaughlin and Taylor Northway could prove to be that little extra the A’s need to challenge the ‘Bellies and steal a close game.

With all the excitement around the Adanacs and their recent acquisitions, it cannot be forgotten that New West has made some outstanding deals in the past week themselves. Adding Langley’s Brett Dobray to an already superlative offensive line will make the ‘Bellies even harder to contain for the Adanacs, and to and even more pressure to the A’s, New West recently acquired Eric Penney from the Ontario Junior A league, a goaltender who plays with the Buffalo Bandits in the NLL during the professional indoor season.

The two clubs both have several new additions to their roster that will no doubt substantially improve their teams, it will come down to who finds chemistry the quickest and how the well the two will match up in terms of style of play.

Look no further than the Palace on Wednesday is you want to see BC’s best head to head. The loaded rosters will be sure to provide plenty of scoring, great defense, solid goaltending and more than a fair share of physical play.

Never mind game of the week. This could very well be the BCJALL regular season game of the year.

Week 11 Preview

New West @ Coquitlam – See Game of the Week

POCO @ Nanaimo – With both teams out of playoffs, pride is on the line. In their last game of the season the Saints will be looking to end a rough season on a high note and hopefully squeak one out against the T-Men.

It will be tough without their leading scorer Connor Goodwin but may be possible as Nanaimo has shipped out goalie Peter Dubenski to Coquitlam.

Langley @ Delta – Delta recently traded their top scorer Eli McLaughlin and one of their leading defensemen, Taylor Northway to Coquitlam so this game could be a little closer than anticipated.

After a 15-11 win over last place POCO, Delta will be looking to improve against the Thunder as they gear up for the first round of playoffs. Look to James Rahe to lead the charge for the Thunder as they will do everything they can to avoid being caught in the standing by the Burnaby Lakers.

Burnaby @ Victoria – If you had to sum up the meeting the last meeting between these two teams in one word it would be, penalties. The Shamrocks registered 62 PIMs while the Lakers acquired 141 PIMs and it would be fair to say the game got a little out of hand.

Burnaby will be looking to build off a close loss to Coquitlam and a win against POCO last week and Victoria will be looking to build momentum as they prep for their 2014 playoff debut.

Victoria @ New West – This game will mark the end of the regular season for both clubs and will be the last test for each team before playoffs. As New West has added a goalie from Ontario, and Brett Dobray to their already impressive line-up.

The Shamrocks have decided to stick with the team that has got them this far and take on the mainlander’s with the boys they’ve been with all season. It will be interesting to see how the post season will go for both teams.

Nanaimo @ Burnaby – The final buzzer heard at Copeland on Sunday will mark the end of the BCJALL regular season. As both teams have traded a number of key players to playoff teams, the players remaining are no longer playing for a chance at the Minto, but for themselves, their teammates and their organizations.

A win for the Lakers could potentially put them in a tie with Langley to end the season and a win would solidify 5th place for the T-Men.
