Crosse Clicks: College Edition

There is more than enough new college lacrosse video, stories and photos available today to fill a Crosse Clicks. So we’re moving the College Edition from Wednesday to Monday this week. Who knows, maybe we’ll even do another College Edition on Wed. More info and video is sure to surface by then! This Albany goal was ridiculous.

Colgate Escapes Vermont

I watched a good chunk of this game online. Vermont was definitely competing with Colgate, at least for a while, and it was a good game. Eventually Colgate scored a couple of ridiculous goals and created some separation between the two squads. I’m a big AJ Masson fan for UVM. He’s a do it all baller.

Nebraska Player Blog

Lincoln, NE – The 2013 lacrosse season got off on the right foot for the Huskers as they defeated Dordt College 8-4 in Cook Pavilion on Saturday. The Huskers raced out to a 6-0 lead and held on using a strong defense and good ball control. Jordyn Jagels, Goalie for Nebraska thought the Huskers defense played well Saturday. “Our Defense played really well keeping them out of the crease area. We will get better in our communication and chemistry as we get deeper into the season.

Leading the way for the Huskers was Tom Gillan (3g). Playing in his first college game, Freshman Brett Willms tallied a goal and an assist for the Huskers as well. The Huskers had several opportunities to put more points on the board but were stymied by a terrific performance by Dordt goalie Jordan Yntema (20s). Coach Chad Heber, in his first game at the helm for the Huskers thought this game was well played by the Huskers. “Fundamentally, our passing and catching are were they should have been. We didn’t have many turnovers in that facet of our game, which is nice to see from game one.

The Huskers begin conference play in Lawrence this weekend as they take on the Kansas Jayhawks Saturday night and the Wisconsin Badgers Sunday morning. “As we get into practice this week, we will work on converting our opportunities around the net and solidifying our transition game.” The Huskers will look to change their luck in GRLC play this weekend. The Huskers haven’t won a conference game since April of 2011.
