Spectacular Goals by Josh Dionne and Greg McBride Make ESPN’s Top Plays

ESPN’s Eamon McAnaney knows a quality goal when he sees it, and when he’s not explaining why they call it execution, he’s breaking out his new call: “Hashtag: SportsCenter Top 10!

Eamon doesn’t throw that line around whenever he pleases; he saves it for special occasions. In fact, every time he’s said it, the play has actually ended up on SportsCenter’s Top 10.

His streak continued on Friday and lacrosse returned to SportsCenter’s Top Plays thanks to Duke’s Josh Dionne, who scored this goal against Maryland in the ACC tournament semifinals.

The SportsCenter shout is great, but it leaves out certain things, like how the ball isn’t even in Dionne’s neighborhood until there are eight seconds left. If you really want to appreciate it, take a look at the game footage below:

After this emotional killer going into the half, the Terps ended up losing the game 6-5. Duke took on UNC in the ACC championship game, and although they had to rally to win, they got the W again.  When you think about all the talent that both Duke and UNC brought out on Sunday it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we’d see yet ANOTHER top play!

Is Greg McBride serious there?  The ball did NOT do what he thought it would, but McBride still managed to catch it and fling it into the goal for the marker.  Unbelievably impressive work this weekend in the ACC!
