Thompson Box Lacrosse Explosion PLUS Goalie Goal!

For those that don’t know, there is a Thompson box lacrosse connection that happens that can’t be explained. Just when you think you couldn’t get enough of Jeremy, Hiana, Miles and Lyle, you get even more, and it’s dirty!

When not on the road with their camps and tournaments, the brothers play for a little team known as the Onondaga Redhawks which compete in the CanAm Sr. B. Don’t let the “B” distract you, this league boasts some of the game’s best! Need me to drop some names? The Thompsons aren’t alone, they call guys like Neal Powless, Brett and Wade Bucktooth, and so many other incredible players their teammates.

Since the team won the CanAm Championship, this past weekend the were playing for the President’s Cup in Coquitlam, BC. Winning the event is the highest honor in Senior B lacrosse and it was the 50th year of the tournament.

Stakes were high and Onondaga came to ball. What you’re about to see may stun you, yes they are that good.

In the first video we get to see the semifinal highlights which don’t really grasp the magnitude of Lyle’s takeover. He scored 7 goals total in the game.

To end the game we get treated to Onondaga’s Edmund Cathers nail a full court dime for the smoothest goalie goal you’ve seen all year!

Just to help you out: Jeremy #17, Lyle #44, Miles #34, Hiana #22. The first rip is Lyle, and so are most of the others.

Next up, the Redhawks became the overall Sr. B Champions of the world winning the President’s Cup! The Redhawks flew across the continent to compete in Coquitlam, BC, and did not return home empty handed.

That’s enough from me, watch them go off.

In the final, the Redhawks knocked off the Six Nations Rivermen 9-7 to take home the trophy.

Who scored the first of the game? Obviously Lyle Thompson with a snipe.

Miles and Hiana had their fun find the back of the net in range and close quarters. Lyle showed up big with the game tying goal at 4 and scoring 5 as well.

Following Lyle, Miles had a pick on a clear which earned him goal 6 for Onondaga. Keeping it in the family, goal 7 was big brother Hiana on the power play to take a 7-6 lead.

Miles followed with two back to back assist, the first on a nasty backhand Wade Bucktooth, and second on a Neal Powless shake and bake stretching a 9-6 lead which earned the Redhawks the 2014 President’s Cup for the club’s 2nd time!

The Thompson family took over this game, the whole event really. Miles was named the President’s Cup Game MVP and Lyle earned the Tournament MVP. I wish I could have been in British Columbia to watch it live!

The teams competing in the Cup were: Kahnawake Mohawks (QSLL), Onondaga Redhawks (Can-Am), St. Albert Miners (RMLL), Six Nations Rivermen (OLA), Nanaimo Timbermen (WCSLA), Tri-City Bandits (WCSLA) and the Akwesasne Outlaws (TNSLL)

Congratulations to the Thomapson family and the Onondaga Redhawks nation for winning the 2014 President’s Cup! Check out the game gallery on their Facebook page.
