Tie Up Tuesday: Eagles Nest, Salty Strings

Editor’s Note: Welcome back to Tuesday Tie Up from Epoch Lacrosse! Each week, we feature a guest lacrosse personality to help you see how the big guns string their heads. You’re sure to learn a thing or two, so pay attention! We’ll let Epoch take it from here…

Salty Strings is back again for another Tie Up Tuesday, diving deeper into a pocket we got a sneak preview of last time they were around.

Tim Roche, creator of Salty Strings, tied up and mailed Epoch Lacrosse one awesome traditional pocket called an Eagles Nest in our signature head, The Hawk!

This pocket is absolutely amazing and showcases some unbelievable craftsmanship. Tim was featured on a previous Tie Up where is discussed his process in creating a Paracord Pocket and gave us a quick look at this complex Eagles Nest pocket.

The Eagles Nest pocket uses multiple pieces of crosslace, intricately knotted together to create a very beautiful channel that leads in two leathers.

Here we see the leathers being tied together with pita styled pattern.

This pocket really uses The Hawks high pocket design and has a great release as well. The hold on an Eagles Nest is a unique feel worth noting. The ball can slink around like in a traditional pocket, but has more freedom to roll like with mesh.
