Willing To Prepare

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen!

“God gives us the ingredients for our daily bread, but He expects us to do the baking.” – William Arthur Ward

Every day we wake up, we have ingredients to make of the day what we want. And depending on what it is that we want, that task could be rather difficult. Last Sunday, I baked a lasagna from scratch. The process, from the first ingredient I cut to the time I took my first bite, was about 5 hours. That doesn’t include the time it took to go to the store to buy everything. I could have had fast food, or something quicker, but it wasn’t what I wanted. I wanted lasagna. I could have had a microwave lasagna. It would have been cheaper and it would have taken about 7 minutes to make. But that option wouldn’t have been as good, & wouldn’t have lasted as long. More importantly, it wasn’t what I wanted. My work on Sunday, will last me the whole week.

We each have certain agendas for our lives on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis. The resources necessary to accomplish the agenda(s) are available, but sometimes we have to be willing to locate them. And then we have to be willing to prepare the ingredients and bake the bread knowing that the end result is greater than the time, effort, and energy that we sacrifice in doing so. Moving onto a different or easier agenda, because the preparation is too tough, is always an option, but rarely is it fulfilling or lasting.

Make it a GREAT day!

Stay blessed.
